Puget Soundscape

This is a great project initiated by Brett Becker ([http://beamreach.org/051 Beam Reach fall, 2005</a>). The idea is to present georeferenced sounds from around the Salish Sea. Brett created both a Google Maps version and a Flash version of the soundscape within Puget Sound (the Salish Sea really) and dubbed the presentation the "Puget Soundscape."

It would be great to take this further, enabling sound clips to be added over time to a database with a map interface. This could be done with many recordings (or clips extracted from them) made during past Beam Reach programs...

Global orca sounds?

Has anyone tried to look at global variability of killer whale sounds?
