To apply for admission, please complete these 3 steps:
- Read our planning and pre-requisites page. Then talk with you academic advisor and get their approval to study off-campus (if necessary at your college).
- Consider the criteria by which your application will be reviewed:
- your academic and personal maturity
- your ability to cooperate in a group and contribute to a community
- your potential as an independent field researcher

Fill out the Beam Reach application form, available in PDF format.
- Resume:
Tell us about your past experience: work, volunteer, otherwise
- Transcripts:
Unofficial electronic versions from all colleges you have attended. Include high school transcripts ONLY if you have completed less than two years of college.
- Two letters of recommendation (one academic, one character):
Please do not use a friend or relative. Letters of recommendation may be submitted by you or directly by your references to

- Academic reference - someone acquainted with your recent academic performance
- Personal reference - someone familiar with your character
- Essay: Compose a short essay (about 500 words or 1-2 pages) that addresses the following 3 questions. Make sure you proof-read, spell check, and grammar check your work.
- How did you learn about Beam Reach?
- Why does the research theme of this program interest you?
- What are your academic, career, and personal goals and how do you expect to further them at Beam Reach?
Once we receive your complete application, including your reference letters, we will send you a confirmation email. Applications are reviewed at the end of each mont on a rolling basis, which means that all applications received in a given month are reviewed together and ranked by quality. In the event of equal ranking within a review, the application completed earliest has priority.
We review applications in first week of each month and send out responses by the end of each month. If you are accepted, you’ll receive an electronic registration packet with important dates and forms. If your application is declined you’ll receive an email from us with feedback about how to improve your application.
